HK Oct I celebrations unprecedented
In a 2,500-word round-up report on National Day celebration activities in Hongkong, a Hsinhua News Agency correspondent in Hongkong wrote:
'Loyal to their great leader Chairman Mao Tse- tung, the Chinese Communist Party and their motherland, and holding high the great red ban- ner of Mao Tse-tung's thought, patriotic Chinese in Hongkong celebrated the 18th anniversary of the People's Republic of China in an unprece- dentedly enthusiastic manner amidst the rising struggle against British atrocious suppression.'"
'The glorious anniversary was greeted with mi- litancy and revolutionary zeal,' he also wrote.
Summarizing the celebration activities, the cor- respondent wrote:
During the National Day celebrations from mid-September till October 8, the patriotic Chi- nese in Hongkong enthusiastically cheered their great leader Chairman Mao, and the tremendous victory of the Great Proletarian Cultural Revo- lution, while waging a tit-for-tat fight against the violent suppression by the British fascist authori- ties in Hongkong. They disseminated Mao Tse- tung's thought on a large scale, studied and ap- plied Chairman Mao's works in a living way, mo- bilised and organised the masses on an intensive and mammoth scale, thus strengthening the ranks of struggle against British atrocities and hastening

HE BRITISH AUTHORITIES in
THongkong have been conniving with
agents of the Chiang Kai-shek gang in the latter's illegal activities in Hong- kong, recently stepped up on the pretext of celebrating the anniversary of the 1911 revolution. This has coincided with the British authorities' wrecking of pa- triotic Chinese celebrations of the 18th anniversary of the founding of the Chi- Lese People's Republic.
'Two China's' scheme
HE HONGKONG BRITISH
au-
Tthorities have consistently toed the
line of US imperialism and this latest political manoeuvre in playing the two China's game fully exposes their ugly opposition to China.
With the connivance and encourage. ment of hongkong British autnori- ties, Chiang Kai-shek agents have been intensifying their activities in Hongkong for the so-called 'double-tenth celebra- tion, and have openly put up the long- discredited signboard of the Chiang Kai-
shes gang.
According to the Chiang gang's 'Cen- tral News Agency', the British authorities have given these agents tacit approval to hold a party on October 10 and to invite Hongkong Government officials and foreign diplomatic envoys'. They have also allowed the Chiang gang agents to set up 'celebration arches' and fly flags of the Chiang Kai-shek - gang, long spurned by the Chinese people, and to carry out large-scale anti-China propaganda.

a new upsurge in the struggle against British vio- lence.'
Commenting on the celebration shows in which nearly 6,000 workers, students, film work- ers and art workers took active part, the corres- pondent afirmed that ‘during the 20 days of ju- bilation and militancy the patriotic Chinese in Hongkong launched a high tide in the propaga- tion and the living study and application of Mao Tse-tung's thought."
The correspondent also gave a detailed account of the murder, raids and arrests committed by the British Hongkong authorities on and around Chi- nese National Day.

had published a joint extra issue which carried China's note handed to the British Government in protest against the atrocities perpetrated by the British Hong- kong authorities in the Shataukok incident.
Some of the students of the Fukien Middle School enthusiastically came out to the streets to distribute copies of the newspaper to passers-by.
The newspaper being a legal publication, there could have been nothing wrong in distributing it. However, one of the students was suddenly pounced upon and
According to him, over 200 organisations took part in these celebration activities, hun- dreds of magnificent gatherings were held and more than 200 thousand people enjoyed them- selves at performances, gramophone concerts, films of the motherland and an exhibition held on the achievements in the socialist revolution and socialist construction i. China. The tota! attendance in the celebrations was many times the number in past years, the correspondent said.
In another article, a Hsinhua correspondent gave a glowing account of the 'unprecedented theatrical festival in Hongkong' to celebrate China's National Day. The festival lasted 18 days, giving a total of 95 performances to a total au- dience of 160,000.
beaten up by a gang of riot police' who had turned up in several police cars, all armed with carbines and other arms.
Cheng and a few other workers happened to be there. Seeing that the youth was outnumbered and was savage- ly knocked about by these thugs, Cheng and other werk- ers went up towards the youth and his assailants and shouted: 'Stop!' Anxious about the young man's safety, they were not concerned at all over their own.
The fascists. around ten in number, raised their gues and shot at Cheng Che-po and others. Cheng was hit in at least seven places and died immediately.
Cheng had long been a victim of British exploitation and persecution in Hongkong. For some time he and his wife had to squeeze themselves and their four children in a hut built in a back lane in the Western District Being a poor perter. Chang and his family often wert without enough food. To get over his difficulties he finally sent his family back to their home village in Kwangtung.
At the same time. Cheng began to understand through his own experience that imperialism and capitalism are
selves, the only way is to oppose these foes vigorously. He joined the strike when the anti-British struggle be- gan. He read Chairman Mao's works, and had drawn from Chairman Mao's teachings the correct answer to the question how to look at one's life and death. That was why he acted so dauntlessly when faced with the ruthlessness of the British Hongkong fascists.
Now Cheng is dead, but thousands like him are rising. All blood debts will certainly be settled in blood one day.
HK authorities connive at
Chiang gang's activities
Trench and Chiang gang
T
HIS CONNIVANCE in the two China's' plot is a manifestation of the Hongkong British authorities' con- sistent hostility towards the great Peo- ple's Republic of China. They have exerted special efforts in this political manoeuvre in recent years. Their high ranking officials have had official con- tacts with Chiang gang agents. In March this year, they approved the participa- tion of the Chiang Kai-shek gang in Taiwan in the Far East Golf Tourna- ment in Hongkong in the naine of the Republic of China', and the flag of the Chiang Kai-shek gang was openly flown on the golf course. David Trench, the British 'Governor' of Hongkong at- tended and officiated at the presentation of awards and shook hands with play- ers of the Chiang gang.
In November 1965, the British au- thorities in Hongkong allowed a 'dele- gation' of the 'Lion Club' of the Chiang Kai-shek gang in Taiwan to visit Hong- kong under the disgraceful signboard of the 'Republic of China'. David Trench openly received the head of the dele- gation' and the Taiwan press made a fan- fare about the 'special favour and cour- tesy' which he accorded these Chiang Kai-shek gang agents.
In March this year, the Hongkong British authorities endorsed the opening of an air line between Taipei and Hong- kong by 'China Airlines Ltd' which be- longs to the Chiang Kai-shek gang in Taiwan. The British airport comman- dant, F.R.J. Lillywhite, attended the party for the opening of the airline given by the Chiang gang's agents at Kaitak airfield.
Over the last few years, the Hong- kong British authorities let Chiang Kai- shek gang agents visit Hongkong in the guise of a variety of 'delegations' and organisations under the signboard of the *Republic of China'. Among these were the so-called 'Delegation of Industrial and Commercial Circles of the Republic of China', 'Economy Study Mission of the Republic of China', 'Buddhist Dele- gation of the Republic of China', and 'delegations' to attend the meetings of the 'Rotary Clubs', 'Lion Club', 'Junior Chamber of Commerce' and 'Tourist As- sociation'.
'China(1)' and 'China(2)'
IN
IN MAY OF LAST YEAR, the Bri- Itish authorities in Hongkong connived with Japan to hold a so-called 'Interna- tional Education and Fine Arts Exhibi- tion' at the 'City Hall', official premises of the Hongkong British authorities. At
the Exhibition', the flag of the Chiang Kai-shek gang were hung and described as the 'Republic of China', while the na- tional flag of the People's Republic of China was alsu displayed and labelled as 'China', so as to peddle the two China's' scheme.
In the past years, the Hongkong Bri- tish authorities have played the two China's' trick on diverse occasions and at every opportunity, innumerable times. In the field of education, they have used textbooks 'approved' by the Director of Education' to advocate 'two China's'. Some of them give such ridiculous de signations as calling the People's Re- public of China 'China (1) and the Chiang Kai-shek gang as 'China (2). In the field of film censorship, the showing of films produced in the People's Re- public of China is always obstructed on a variety of pretexts, unreasonably cut or even banned. Films of the Chiang Kai-shek gang, on the other hand are allowed to be shown in Hongkong. and the flag of the Chiang gang and the traitor Chiang Kai-shek were allowed to appear on the screen to the Chiang gang publicity,
The British authorities in Hongkong for many years, flouting opposition by, the Chinese people, have unscrupulously done their part in the 'two China's' plot of the US imperialists and shown hosti- lity toward the 700 million people of China. The patriotic Chinese in Hong kong warn the Hongkong British au thorities that their grave political pro- vocations against the 700 million Chi❤ nese people will be duly punished.→→→ Hsinhua
