Peking, June 2 (Hsinhua) · The People's Daily today strongly condemns the British imperialists for the monstrous atrocities committed by them in their persecution of Chinese compatriots in Hongkong and Kowloon.
It points out that the more frantic the British imperialists are in their cruel perse- cution, the nearer is their day of doom approaching in Hongkong. It says: "The patrio- tic Chinese nationals in Hongkong, with the support of the 700 million people of the motherland, demand that the British imperialists repay their blood debt and will sentence them to death. This historic day will eventually come'.

In order to check the influence of China's Great Prole- tarian Cultural Revolution and prevent the spreading of Mao Tse-tung's thought, the vicious British imperialists have adopted the most barbarous fascist methods in the persecu tion of the Chinese compatriots in Hongkong and Kowloon. The British police and agents have used tortures and threats to try to force the patriotic Chinese nationals to take off their badges with portrait of Chairman Mao. Their firm reply is always 'Even the threat of death cannot force us to do that!'
The commentator says: 'Our great leader Chairman Mao teaches us "historically, all reactionary forces on the verge of extinction invariably conduct a last desperate struggle against the revolutionary forces." The Bri- tish imperialists will be smashed one day by the great storm of struggle waged by the Chinese compatriots in Hongkong!'
