Three Communist newspapermen were found guilty in Central Court this Tuesday morning on charges of sedition attempting to cause disaffection among members of police force and publication of false news. They were each sentenced to three years' imprisonment.
Nam Cheong Hublication Company and Afternoon News were also found guilty on six summonses of similar offences and each fined total of twelve thousand dollars.
Magistrate Light in passing sentence said no (repeat no) reasonable Tribunal in any civilised country would have reached any other conclusion.
1 Magistrate also granted an application by prosecution to suppress Afternoon News for six months.
Meanwhile quiet continued to prevail all along Hong Kong China
border.
More than thirty (repeat thirty) farm workers crossed Man Kam To this morning to work fields on Hong Kong side. This was followed by large consignment of pigs which came across in lorries. Sixteen vehicles carrying poultry also crossed at Man Kam To.
No (repeat no) one crossed Lowu today. Neither did any trains arrive from China.
