It was explained that there should be no difficulty over
the legislature voting the necessary funds for the increased defence contribution. The proposal had been put forward by the Unofficials
themselves and the additional expenditure had been accommodated in
the estimates without cuts elsewhere and without the imposition of
new taxes.
