I am replying to your letter No. D/DS5/111/5/2/69/B of
11 September, about the reinforcement of the Hong Kong Garrison.
As I mentioned to you over the telephone, we see no objection
to declassifying the programme for the transfer of the five
mine hunters from Singapore, provided that the Governor of Hong
Kong likewise sees no objection. This could most easily be
ascertained through the Commodore or Commander British Forces
Hong Kong.
I also mentioned to you that I had cleared the above with
the Far Eastern Department, Foreign Office,
