Then the Directors of Plans considered the paper for the Chiefs of Staff on the run-down in the Far East to 31 March 1968 they deleted their recommendation that two minesweepers should be based on Hong Kong. Their argumont was that the C-in-C had merely recommended the withdrawal of three minesweepers from the Far East, and since the Directors of Plans saw no objection to this it was not appropriate to discuss the deployment of those that remained. This seemed a fair point so

I did not oppose it.
