My dear thason
I promised to let you have some more information about the Polytechnic proposal and I now attach a copy of the brief prepared by my Committee for HE. I was asked at the end of 1966 to gather confidentially the views of overseas Members on the future pattern of higher education in Hong Kong and the scheme really developed from this. All the Members of the Committee are very keen on it, and I attach also a list of Members.
2.
We are holding a meeting of overseas Members in London on Wednesday, 7 August 1968, at the UK University Grants Committee offices in 14 Park Crescent, W.1. This would provide an excellent opportunity for some one from your office to go further into the matter. I believe Carter already has a copy of the brief. We would be glad to make time available at any convenient point during the Wednesday.
3.
This project has the support as I told you of the Special Committee on Higher Education and anything you can do to push things along will be much appreciated. This would be an excellent vehicle through which to show the UK's confidence in Hong Kong.
All food wishes,
Yours sinchell
