Lord Shepherd is away to-day and
because he spent most of yesterday in the
House of Lords he found time only to glance through these papers. He is not particularly happy with the answers as drafted – nor is
he very happy about the third question, i... the one dealing with "siege" conditions, which he does not think particularly helpful.
I have therefore revised the answers
(a)
(b)
to take account of what I believe
are Lord Shepherd's wishes; and
to take more into account the
fact that the programme is aimed
at an audience in Hong Kong and
not in London.
Before revising the answers I spoke briefly with Sir Arthur Galsworthy and Mr. H.P.Hall,
who agree generally with the line which I
have taken,
