Although I am not able to reply immediately to the request in your letter of 12 March for news about the provision of information to the Hong Kong Export Credit Insurance Corporation, I hope to be able to do so within the next two or three weeks.
Several reminders to the Board of Trade have not produced any
result but earlier this week Ian Brown spoke to his opposite
number in the Board of Trade about this matter. He was told
that a very full reply had been drafted; it was being cleared with the departments concerned and was expected to be signed by
Lord Brown in about ten days time.
I am sorry this business has dragged on so long but it now
looks as if we shall soon have something to report - for good
or bad.
