I want to write a letter to Mr. Bolland in the Foreign Office about points raised in paragraph 5(a) of Mr. Selwyn's minute at (37) but before doing so I would like to refresh my memory of the papers in which we discussed with the Foreign Office the Chinese objections to moves which implied that Hong Kong might be regarded by herself or by us as a "country". Could these papers be found please? My recollection is that they may have been on the file
dealing with the Asian Development Bank. On the other hand,
we may have copies on the "Relations with China" file.
