Thank you for your Top Secret letter MO/5/14 of the 1st August about Hong Kong.
I am quite content with this approach to the problem of evacuation planning, I have nominated H. P. Hall, the Assistant Under Secretary with responsibility for Hong Kong, as the official concerned on our side. Perhaps you would instruct the officials you propose to associate with this study to get in touch with him.
I am sending copies of this to other members of the Ministerial Committee on Hong Kong and to No.10 and Sir Burke Trend.
