At this building he was lodged on the North/Eastern outskirts of Shum Chun.
in a room on the ground floor where he spent the rest of his period of detention. His accommodation was furnished with a double bed, a single bed, wardrobe, desk and table. There was a private bathroom attached which like the bedroom had an unbarrod but bolted window facing onto paddy fields at the rear of the building. Outside the front of the room, which was numbered 437, there was a verandah with two or three steps leading into a garden some 20 x 8 yards in dimension.

Apart from the rough treatment he received from the farmers whon first taken into C.T., Knight was at no time physically assaulted or deliberately made uncomfortable in any other way. ho was detained was an old style Chinese detached two-storey building anā
The accommodation was comfortable and his room was on the ground floor.
The batter consisted of Chinono- Choro was sufficient bedding and food. style buna at broakfast, followed by lunch and dinor invariably comprising of rice, pork and cabbage. Occasionally ho was given some fresh fruit or a glass of Tsing Tau beur. Twice he was given a small bottle of Chinese port. He was guarded by four C.C.A. who alternated on 24-hour shifts, with two on duty on each shift. They had sleeping accommodation on either side of Knight's room. The guardo sat in chairs on the verandah, just outcido his room, taking it in turns to patrol the grounds. Occasionally they entered his accommodation when he or, they required something. However, between the time of his going to bed at approximately 18.30 each evening and arising at 06.00 they never entered though he was aware that they looked in from time to time through the glass verandah door to satisfy themselves that all was well. ho was allowed to walk in the garden for about 30 minutes, after each meal. During the incident at Man Kam To, Knight slightly sprained one ankle. This ailment was treated by a doctor during his first week of detention.
