By 19.00 hours D.C.N.'s talks had broken down, he having refused
three demands, namely:-
(a). To acknowledge that British Authorities were wrong

(c) To undertake not to roplace it.
At 19.45 hours an attempt was mado by H.M. Forces to procure Knight's release, but before being reached, he was taken by his captors across the bridge, into Chinese Torritery. Shortly afterwards, the D.C.N.T. broadcast a domand for his return. There was no reply or responso.

On reaching.C.T. a C.C.A. sentry attempted to stop Knight being taken further. However a number of very aggressive farmers joined those who had

About ten minutes later a C.C.A. officer, accompanied by 10 C.C.A. troops, arrived in a jeep. In order to get Knight away from the farmers, the officer drew his revolver. The officer then untied the prisoner and searched him. Knight was then directed to get into the joop but before complying, an argument developed between the officer and the farmers who, apparently, wished to accompany the party. Consequently, two of the farmers wore allowed to board the joop; Knight was then told to do likoviso, following which the two farmers were ejected by the 0.0.A. troops. Knight was blindfolded and the jeep moved off, stopping some five minutes later
