The main Communist newspapers today published prominently on their front pages a joint statement allegedly issued by the various "Anti-Persecution Struggle Committees in the New Territories". The statement consists of six fighting slogans" including
11
(1) N.T. belongs to the Chinese. N.T. compatriots' right to love their country should not be violated;
(2) Inherit the 'anti-British and resistance against Japan' revolutionary traditions, oppose the United States-British conspiracy to carry out anti-China plots and aggression in Viet Nam. Oppose the British imperialists' national suppression in Hong Kong so as to preserve national dignity; (3) Oppose the Hong kong British political persecution. Fear no Hong Kong British threats. Listen to no Hong kong British flattery;
(3)
and "25 principles for action" including
Firmly support the mother-country's Foreign Ministry's 5 demands and the All Circles APSC's 4 demands;
(6) Oppose the Hong Kong British violation of the rights of the villagers and the unlawful persecution, kidnapping and arrests of patriotic villagers and village representatives;
(7) Oppose the Hong Kong British blockade of the border. Oppose the enlargement of the closed area. Hong kong must abolisn the closed area' permits. N.T. residents have the right to go anywhere to visit their friends;
(9) Oppose all unjust taxation and unreasonable fines.
The others reiterate many of the Communist clichés about the new territories and refer to long-standing "grievances".
