A Government spokesman said that these arrangements had been arrived at in exchanges about border matters between responsible officials on both sides. The spokesman said that the Government would not give further details of these discussions. He added that the barrier

on the bridge at Man Kam To was removed so that the constables could cross and would remain open since the incident which had made it necessary to close the bridge was now ended".
