Addressed to C.0. telegram No. 1515 of 11 October.
Repeated for information to:
Border.
POLAD Singapore.
At about 1100 today a Chinese male climbed over the outer of two barbed wire fences surrounding a military position at Man Kam To and was blown up on a mine. His companions and labourers from C.T. from the loading area near the bridge extricated him before a military stretcher party could get there and took him back into China. A broadcast was made by our side announcing that a doctor, ambulance and helicopter were ready to evacuate him to hospital but he has not been returned so far.
2. The man is believed to have had Police permission to be in the border closed area and had come from Kowloon with others to visit an ancestor's grave. The extent of his injuries is not known but one leg was seen to be damaged. He approached the fence through heavy scrub which prevented the sentries at the Man Kam To post from seeing
him in time.
