H.M. Consul Macao is returning to his post this

Since there are indications that the situation in Macao (as here) may worsen tomorrow, he intends to call again on the Governor on his return to urge him to guarantee at least the personal safety of himself and his staff.

Portuguese administration are clearly reluctant to take any effective action in this direction. In these circumstances, it would be most useful if urgent representations could be made to the Portuguese Government to instruct the Governor to do everything possible to look after the safety of Ions and his staff.
