Suggestions (a), (b), and (c) seem satisfactory but
Miss Gutierrez claims that two months salary for every year of service was paid in 1948. Could this be rechecked? If there is doubt, we should err on the side of generosity.

Both Miss Gutierrez and Mr. Jack Woo say that negotiations had been initiated to obtain pensions for them. Can you clarify this?
30 We have reduced the per diem subsistence to
30 dollars as from 1 July.
4. We have not been able to take the question of alternative employment very far in the absence of a firm decision to close the Consulate, but there is a reasonable chance of some form of employment being offered within the Hong Kong Government (but this may be impossible in the case of Miss Gutierrez and Mr. Woo in view of their age). The staff have all indicated that they would like to work for the Hong Kong Government.
