The Committee
(1) Approved the recommendations in OPD (67) 67.
(2) Invited the Minister of Defence (Administration) to cancel any further action on planning for the ultimate reduction of the garrison of Hong Kong on the basis indicated by the Prime Minister.
(3) Invited the Foreign Secretary and the Minister of State,
Commonwealth Office, to keep the situation under close review and to consider action to maintain order in Hong Kong including the reinforcement of the garrison during the Chinese New Year, on the basis indicated by the Prime Minister.
