SCANDINAVIA
The bulletin picked up varicus student demonstrations in Helsinki and Copenhagen. The bulletin also had a report composed by the Reference News staff quoting from unspecified Uslc scurces about anti-American demonstrations in Oslc during the 1 May holiday. According to this report the demonstrators wanted Norway to withdraw from NATO.
CUBA
A speech by Raoul Castro on 1 May was summarised at some length. Castro said that Cuba was suffering from the danger of drought and a lack of manpower. He also said that the police had got wind of a plot against Fidel Castro.

EUROPE AND THE US
The Reference News noted that Vice-President Humphreys had declared himself as a candidate for the Presidency. Another report said that he had talked of building a bridge to China, The report pointed out that he had called China "mainland China" and had described the capital as Peking. The Nationalists were not very pleased about this.
The Reference News of 29 April said that the Swiss authorities were showing a documentary film on the Tibetans which had been made in Nepal, The film was financed by the International Red Cross.
SCIENCE
The Reference News of 27 April has several articles about the processing of uranium, Une report said that the Dutch had invented a new machine for converting uranium 235 into uranium 238. There were also two reports from British sources about the extraction of uranium from sea water and the atmosphere.
