Addressed to Peking telegram No. 44 of 20 January Repeated for information to Commonwealth Office
Following two messages were received through the New China News Agency this afternoon Monday:
(a) The Committee of the People in Kwangtung Province supporting their patriotic compatriots in Hong Kong in giving their regards and concern to Hong Kong Chinese patriots have decided to ship 5,000 tons of rice to Hong Kong and ask the Hong Kong Federation of Trades Unions to distribute. You should give the facility for this scheme.
(b) The Red Cross of Kwangtung Province has for the same reason decided to entrust the China Travel Service to prepare and distribute 1,000 pieces of cotton winter clothes and 1,000 woollen clothes to Chinese patriots in prisons. They would like you to make the arrangements.
