1 December. Repeated for information to Peking.
There should be no great practical difficulties in obtaining visas here provided that they have been approved in Peking. It may be necessary however to be flexible about the
amount of time that intending travellers to Peking spend in Hong Kong.

There are now trains every day from Hong Kong to Canton but it is possible to connect with flights to Peking from Canton on the same day only on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We know of nobody who has been able to go from Canton to Peking by rail recently but a member of the Swiss Embassy recently did so in the opposite direction.
Foreign Office please pass Priority to Peking as my 643.
