Sir,
I am informed that, on the occasion of
the proposed visit of N.S. "Savannah" to Hong
Kong), Her Majesty's Government, by an exchange
of Notes with the Government of the United
States dated
have signified their
willingness to release the Government of the
United States from its obligations under Annex
1 to the Agreement of 19 June, 1964, with the
exception of paragraph 16 thereof for so long
as N.S. "Savannah" is operated by First
Atomic Ship Transport Incorporated, on condition
that First Atomic Ship Transport Incorporated
undertakes to fulfil the same obligations..
I hereby give that undertaking to Her Majesty'
Government on behalf of First Atomic Shipy
Transport Incorporated.
I also note that it was a further condition
of the release referred to above that Her.
Majesty's Government retain the rights accorded
the ven
to them under that Annex in the/vent that
these obligations are not fulfilled.
