Visit of N.S. "SAVANNAH" to Hong Kong
Please refer to your letter SEN 1/4/1 of 17 May to
Charles Butterfield enclosing a reuraft of our Note to the U.S.
Ambassador in London extending and amending the 1964 Agreement on visita by N.S. "SAVANNAH" to United Kingdom ports to cover the visit to Hong Kong in June.
2.
We have discussed this over here and are agreed that the Note as amended is satisfactory. There are however two or three typographical errors which will no doubt be picked up out you may like to have a note of them:-
3.
(a) Paras, 3 and 5. For "Agreement of Indemnification"
substitute agreement of indemnification".
(b) Para, 5, line 3. For "Paragraph" substitute "paragraph".
(c) Para, 6. For "given" substitute "giving".
We are quite content that this matter should be dealt with in a single Note. But as a final comment on your suggestion in peragraph 6 that we "see if the amendments turn out to be satisfactory" we must hope that they are never put to the test!
4. The draft letter from FAST to the British Ambassador in Washington also appears to be satisfactory from our point of view.
5. I am sending a copy of this letter together with a copy of your letter and enclosures to A.. Gaminara in the C.. Dependent Territories Division and B.H.J. Lane in C.. Aviation and Tele- communications Department. If they have any additional commente, I should be grateful if they would pass them direct to you.
