Your telegram 1776: N.S. Savannah.
We understand that the visit will now take place on 7 October. We hope that the R.N. monitoring team will be available.
We pro- pose to deal with the October visit in the same way as the first visit, i.e. to put it on a Nusafe buoy (which is in any case a normal commercial buoy) and to insist that the monitoring team be available.
2.
We are at present examining the implications of the proposed succession of visits and the possibility of relaxing our require- ments. The first visit raised no particular problem of which you should be aware.
Foreign Office please pass Washington as my telegram No. 285.
