Dear Sir,
Proposed Visits of N.S. 'SaVannah' to Hong Kong
Would you please refer to my letter of 30th August and my proposal in the draft attached to it that we make an approach to Mr. Lyons of the American Embassy.
As i said on the telephone, we have reconsidered this proposal in the light especially of comments from Waddingham at the Ministry of Defence. We now propose to defer any such approach at least until after the next meeting of the Nuclear Powered Warships Safety Committee on 29th September, on which the Board of Trade will be represented. We shall of course keep you in touch.
