U.S. Naval Visits. Following for Political
Adviser from Murray.
Now that the Chinese are apparently pre-
pared in principle to resolve the problem of
exit visas, we are naturally most concerned to
minimise the risks of any new contretemps with
them before the persons concerned have actually
left China.
2. In the programme of visits in paragraph 2 of Hong Kong telegram No. 905 of 18 July 7 "America" (attack carrier) is clearly more cont-
roversial than "St. Paul" (cruiser) (see the
categories in paragraph 7 of Hong Kong tele-
gram No. 883).
