The local left wing press on 9th March
in short articles on their Hong Kong news pages point out that at a time when the U.S. is
escalating the war" in Vietnam and using naval vessels to bombard North Vietnam, the Americans have sent 71 naval vessels to Hong Kong so far this year. The articles go on to describe the ten vessels now in port; they include the helicopter carrier "IWO JIMA".
