THE GOVERNOR CF HONG KONG

The Governor of Hong Kong is in London this week for

consultations with the Commonwealth Office. He will spend

next week on leave in the West Country, and is due to return

to Hong Kong on the evening of 13 May.

2. He is to see the Commonwealth Secretary at 4 p.m. on

2 May.

3. Sir A. Galsworthy is holding a meeting on the morning

of 3 May, to which he has invited Mr. Tilkinson and myself,

to discuss

(a)

various current Hong Kong issues affecting

our relations with China; and

(b) the long-term study of Hong Kong which the

Commonwealth Secretary will shortly be putting

to the Hong Kong Winisterial Committee.

It has been arranged that the Governor should call on

Mr. Rodgers et 12 noon on 13 May . The Secretary of State

may wish to make the acquaintance of Sir D. Trench.

Mr. Rodgers might perhaps take him along to call on the

Secretary of State after they have had their discussion.
