Repeated for information to Peking.

At 10.30 a.m. this morning in the Western Police Division of Hong Kong Island a police constable stopped a China Products rice lorry for obstruction. While the driver was being questioned, a man assaulted the police- man knocking papers from his hand and tearing his uniform. A mobile police patrol passing by arrested the assailant who was then taken to Western Police Station. Shortly afterwards other Communist trucks were driven up and blocked the main road outside the police station, while a crowd of about 300, some wearing Mao badges, having formed up outside the China Merchants Steam Navigation Co. Gowdown, demonstrated outside the Police Station and assaulted a Press photographer. They were dispersed with the firing of 12cs gas cartridges and 20 baton shells, and the streets were cleared by 12.03 p.m. Seven men were arrest. At 12.30 p.m. a crowd of 150 onlookers gathered outside the Magistracy next door to the police station, but dispersed peacefully at 12.50 p.m.
