I have the honour to inform you that I have appointed Dr. CHUNG Sze-yuen, J.P., provisionally and subject to Her Majesty's pleasure, to be temporarily an Unofficial Member of the Legislative Council with effect from 20th July, during the absence from the Colony of Mr. P.Y. Tang.

Dr. Chung's previous provisional appointment, referred to in your Despatch No.646 dated 3rd July, expired on 11th July following the return of Mr. Y.K. Kan.

Copies of the Instrument of Appointment in respect of Dr. Chung and of the Gazette Notice promulgating his appointment are attached.
