Sir,

I have the honour to inform you that I have appointed Mr G. R. Ross, OBE, a temporary Unofficial Member of the Executive Council, provisionally and subject to Her Majesty's pleasure, to be an Unofficial Member of the Legislative Council with effect from 20th July to mid-September during the absence from the Colony of Mr. M.A.R. Herries, OBE, MC.

Mr Ross ceased to be a member of the Legislative Council on 30th June 1968 following the expiry of his appointment for one year as the nominee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce. This Chamber nominated Mr Herries to replace Mr Ross, and Mr Herries was appointed from 1st July. The Chamber was later invited to nominate one of their members willing to serve on the Legislative Council during Mr Herries' absence and Mr Ross was nominated.

Copies of the Instrument of Appointment and of the Gazette Notice promulgating Mr Ross' appointment are attached.
