The Pai-Lau (Chinese-style gate) at the entrance
passage way links its first floor with the first floor of the circular block. The windows use Naco louvers with translucent glass; high windows are provided on the corridor wall.
The round-shaped block has an open space (18 feet in diameter) in its middle. With a turfed surface, it forms a small garden on the ground floor, surrounded by kitchens, pantry and laundry rooms. The rest of the floor space and the upper floor are taken up by mess rooms. Tiled dados in the
rooms are up to the underside of the beams.
Block C is 21⁄2 storeys containing 192 beds, 3 common rooms, 2 office rooms and 5 lavatories.
All internal walls of bedrooms, cor- ridors and common rooms are of emul- sion finishing and all floors are of colour PVC tiles and mosaic tiles.
The three buildings are accessible through a private driveway. A specially designed Pai Lau (Chinese-style gate) stands at the main entrance.
Scheduled for completion this month, the total cost of the project is about HK$2.3 million (US$383,000). Main contractors are Peter Leung Con- struction Company. Subcontractors and suppliers include:
Yuen Hing Hong Co. Ltd. - tiling Acme Sanitary Ware Co. Ltd. - lavatory ware
