EXPANSION BOLTS Tapered Wedge Gives Immovable Fixing

A NEW series of expansion bolt fix- ing units has been introduced by Expandite, Ltd., Chase Road, Lon- don, N.W.10. They range from

Workshop clad in plastic coated steel

4 in. to 1 in. diameter and from 2 in, to 10 in. in length. There are two versions, the stud type and the projecting type.

The stud type Expandabolt con- sists of a standard set screw and

cone

washer, a sheradis- ed two-piece ex- panding shield and a threaded wedge. Wire cir- clips retain the whole assembly ready for immedi- ate use. The Stud type is recom- mended for ap- plications such as the fixing of heavy machinery where the equipment is project

positioned before the set screw is inserted. The action of tightening the set screw draws the tapered wedge into the expanding shield, forcing the external saw teeth of the shield into the concrete or brickwork to provide an immovable fixing.

The Projecting type operates on a similar principle, but in this case, in- stead of the set screw, a stud, screw- ed permanently into the cone wedge. is used. This type is suitable for wall fixings where the equipment can be offered up onto the projecting bolt. The fixing is then completed with a separate nut.

Expandite have offices in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. They are repre- sented in Hong Kong by Indo China Trading Co., Ltd.

STEEL CLADDING

Plastic Coated Sheets for Walls and Roofs

The plastic coating may be applied to one or both sides of the sheeting. Special fixing systems have been de-
