Davleco 28in, vibrating roller

The drive is through a two-speed forward and reverse mechanical gear box which provides working speeds of 62 and 120 ft. per minute. The unit incorporates a water tank with spray bars and scrapers to both rolls.

The ERT controls include a posi- tive transmission brake for greater safety on inclines and a patented vibrator control mechanism.

COMPACTOR

Portable Unit for Use in Confined Areas

SUITABLE for packing down asphalt or granular materials, the VC-19 vibra- tory plate compactor delivers a 1,700 lb. impact over 5,000 times each minute. It weighs only 160 lb. yet is said to have a force equal to a 10 ton roller.

Equipped with a swing type handle and 19 in. wide plate, the unit com- pacts up to 5,700 sq. ft. per hour in 10 in. to 20 in. lifts. Vibratory reac-

tion force propels it forward in high frequency impulses, up to 60 ft. per minute.

A controlled flow sprinkler system lubricates the bottom of the plate to prevent asphalt sticking to it and four large shock mounts isolate the plate from the engine deck and the handle.

The plate is driven by a Briggs and Stratton 3 h.p. petrol engine.

ROAD SWEEPER

Dual Power for Road Travel and Sweeping

SEPARATE engines in the Model 940 four-wheel road sweeper govern road travel and broom and elevator opera- tion. In addition, torque from hydraulic motors is multiplied to im- prove sweeping and loading formance.

An innovation is the automatic ejec- tor plate. When the hopper dump lever is operated, the rear hopper gate opens and the plate forces the

load out in a compact pile behind the rear wheels.

The rotary pick-up broom is sus- pended between the road wheels from a dual torsion bar and the broom mechanism is enclosed for protection against dirt. Other features include: dual water spray bars, rubber eleva- tor chains, retractable gutter broom and power safety brakes.

LOADING SHOVEL

Clamshell Bucket with ton Payload Capacity

THE Ahlmann A 110 loading shovel can now be supplied with a clamshell bucket attachment, which fits as an extension to the loader's hydraulic rear-mounted slewing boom, and a hydraulic winch.

Measuring 93 cm, wide, the clam- shell bucket has a 1 ton payload cap- acity, a maximum digging depth of 3.32 m. and a maximum lifting height of 3.12 m. With the boom horizontal, the bucket extends 2.75 m. in front of the loader.

Raising and lowering the boom takes 7.1 and 5 sec. respectively, and

slewing through the 90 deg. to either side of the loader's centre line can be carried out in 3.2 sec.

The hydraulic-winch attachment, wound with 80 m. of 16 mm. dia- meter cable, develops a tensile force of up to 10 tons. When unloaded, it pays out the cable at a maximum speed of 21 m. per min. and hauls in at 89 m. per min. As with the boom and clamshell, power for the hydraulic operation comes from the loader's four-stroke six-cylinder diesel engine which has a constant output of 115 h.p. at 2,300 r.p.m.
