head, the DR-1200 Dig-R-Mobile will accommodate augers up to 16 in. diameter. The powerhead rolls up and down the mast on sealed ball bearings. The weight of the power- head and augers is sufficient to feed into normal soils. A slight extra pressure, however, on the hand wheel assists in penetrating hard soils.

Hand wheels on turn buckles adjust the unit to dig vertical holes, even on uneven ground, or to set the machine for angle digging up to 15° from the vertical. An adjustable stabilizer with pad is provided to sup- port the machine when working with extra large augers or to moderate depths.

Soiltest agents include: Bentez and Co., Inc., Manila; International En- gineering Co., Bangkok; and William Jacks and Co., Hong Kong.

VIBRATING ROLLERS

Two New Machines from Australian Company

TWO new vibrating rollers have been announced by Davleco In- dustries Ltd.. Settlement Road, Bun- dooran, Victoria, Aus.

One is a cleated drum vibrating roller with an assembly interchange- able with either a smooth drum or the standard sheepsfoot drum in Davleco 72 in. 6-ton vibrating roller. The cleated drum is designed essen- tially for the breaking down of shale, limestone, etc., normally crushed by a mesh-type roller.

The drum has 156 cleats, each 12 in. long, protruding at 4 in. centres and arranged to provide maximum breaking power when combined with the high frequency vibration of the drum. A cleaning mechanism is in- cluded to help keep the drum clear of soil build-up.

The machine is fitted with Timken travel bearings for the higher towing speeds necessary with a cleated type drum.

A smaller machine is the 28 in. ERT (edge rolling tandem) vibrating roller, designed to work flush with kerbs, fences or walls.

The 28 in. ERT, which weighs 121⁄2 cwt., can be powered by either a Villiers Mk. 25 3-h.p. engine, or a Wisconsin model BKND 5-h.p. petrol engine. A diesel version is also available.
