Too Many Industrialised Systems in London

So many firms had climbed on the industrialised building band wagon in the London area that the advantages of the new methods were being lost, said Mr. Robert Mellish, Britains Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Hous- ing and Local Government, last month.

Some 50 different industrialised systems were avail- able in Greater London and he thought that they should be reduced to a smaller number of those which had proved cheapest and best.

"The full benefits of industrialised building will be reaped," he said, "when we have in each region a small number of those systems which have proved themselves to be cheapest and most satisfactory, competing fiercely among themselves, but each reasonably assured of a sizable market which can yield economies of scale."
