LARGEST of the permanent build- ings at the fair is the auditorium which covers 4,000 square metres. It will be used as a conference hall for the fair and for staging the National Day celebrations of the participating countries.
The building contains the confer- ence hall, a cinema, meeting room, reception hall, lounge and offices.
Foundations. Reinforced concrete. Prestressed concrete piles.
Framework. Reinforced concrete, with steel used for the roof structure of the conference hall.
Finishes. The building is roofed in
cement corrugated asbestos
sheets. Exterior walls are covered with wash-
ed terrazzo, interspersed at intervals with smooth plaster. A large opening above the main entrance is concealed by a series of vertical terrazzo-faced panels which allow beams of light into the foyer creating a contrast of light and shadow.
Auditorium is the least advanced of the permanent buildings. This view was taken in late October
