THE Hall of Nations is another structure which embodies a modern adaptation of traditional Thai design in its roof lines and wall decoration. It is an almost square building. covering 2,000 square metres, with a tall central aisle to a height of 15 metres, winged at right angles by seven arched canopies on either side. Foundations. Reinforced concrete. Prestressed concrete piles.

Framework. Reinforced concrete. The framework for the tall roof struc- ture is emphasised by the use of a dark cement-paint finish on the beams and uprights.

Cladding. Exterior walls are cover- ed with washed terazzo with a strong expression of the vertical lines. Aluminium grills set into the gable ends of the canopies beautify the building and improve the interior light- ing and ventilation.

Finishes. Interior walls surfaced in Teako boards.
