When storm winds blow, the air pressure inside a building is lower than that outside. This pressure differential is the direct cause of leakage through conventional windows. It siphons water through the weatherseals into the window frames and, ultimately, into the building.

All Kawneer Sealair windows vertically pivoted, top hinged and casement-- have three exclusive design features that elim- inate this problem completely. An integral drip section (1) directs rainwater away from a patented pressure equalisation slot (2), which keeps the air pressure inside the frame the same as the pressure outside. No pressure differential, so no leaks. And the continuous weatherstripping (3) is a permanent, physical barrier to both water and air.

This chart compares the water infiltration resistance of standard Sealair windows (determined by the static pressure chamber method in certified laboratory tests) with the A3 standards for Monumental Windows (for high rise buildings) from the American Standards Association and the Architectural Aluminum Manufac- turers' Association, USA. No leakage when tested under static pressure and constant flow of water for 15 minutes.
