edge is 5 in. (127.0 mm). It is de- signed for extreme service in rock formations difficult to reach with rear mounted rippers such as maintaining slope in hard materials.
When the Pioneer is not needed, the operator simply pulls the shank pin and the ripper shank floats in its box housing permitting normal operation of the dozer.
The attachment welds onto the end-plate of model 9U and 95 bull- dozers on all Caterpillar D9 tractors.
MELTING KETTLE
48 in. high for convenient loading
THE BarTseal 24, a hot-rubber melting kettle for concrete joint seal- ing, is only 48 in. high for convenient loading.
A pre-heating chamber encloses and automatically heats the pump.

Stratford floor system
FLOOR CONSTRUCTION
Low-cost system in structural steel
A RAPID, low cost, floor construc- tion system based on open web steel joists is being marketed by Sanders & Forster Ltd., Warton Road, London, E.15. Called the Stratford floor sys- tem, it can be used in conjunction with a steel or concrete frame or with load bearing brickwork.
Basically, it consists of open web steel joists spaced at 2, 3 or 4 ft. centres, and supporting either precast concrete floor slabs, providing a com- pletely dry floor construction, or al- ternatively a thin in-situ concrete slab laid either on permanent shuttering or on special temporary shuttering supported off the joists. In no cases are temporary props required, and work can proceed on several floors simultaneously.
The

The open web construction on the joists enables services and ducting to be carried within the depth of the floor, and providing a dry system of ceiling construction is used there is easy access for alterations on the re- routing of such services.

of 20 ft., and the relatively low weight per square foot of the floor does not increase appreciably with larger spans. The low weight of the floor in itself enables considerable savings to be made in the design of the supporting framework and foundations.
Agents are Harper Gilfillan Ltd., Singapore.
RIPPER
Designed for service in difficult rock formation
THE Pioneer dozer ripper model PDR-D9, a dozer attachment for breaking loose stubborn rock forma- tions, has been marketed by American Tractor Equipment Corporation, 9131 San Leandro Street, Oakland, Califor- nia, USA.
This device gives the operator finger-tip control of his dozer blade in working boulders and over-size rocks to the surface for removal from Penetration the scraper loading area.

Other features include latches to hold the lid open, a small lid opening for the applicator, a visual method to check the oil level, an agitator shaft bearing, and a material filter.
The BarTseal 24 is made by Barton Corp., Towanda, III., USA, and is available for export through Henry R. Jahn & Son, Inc., New York.
YIELDICATOR
Permits easy checks to determine actual yield
THE Model 363 Yieldicator by Pro- tex Industries Inc., 1331 West Evans Avenue, Denver, Colorado USA, is a new concept for simplifying rapid determination of concrete yield.
It permits fre- quent, easy check to determine actual yield, resulting in quality concrete, and more accurate volume of concrete produced with a
