Finishes

Walls and ceilings in the school are plastered and finished inexpensive- ly in colour cement paint and Chinese distemper.

Floors of laboratories and play areas are surfaced with mosaic tiles: stairways, corridors and classrooms with colour cement rendering; and administrative offices with asphalt tiles. Glazed tile dadoes are provided in all lavatories, domestic science rooms and some special rooms.

A special feature of the design of this school is its multi-purpose hall and gymnasium. It seats about 950 but a complete school assembly can be catered for. The stage has a 90- degree frontage which opens on to the covered play area beneath the north wing.

For hard wear and easy mainten- ance the hall has a mosaic tile floor. Windows are installed at both high and low levels to give good ventilation and sun protection is given by the roof overhang and a canopy at first floor height.

Cost

The total floor area of the school is 90,400 sq. ft. The total cost of construction, excluding equipment and furniture, was approximately HK$2.- 350,000.
