The herbarium building is central. ly air-conditioned with a Carrier Weather-maker" unit. installed by the air conditioning sub-contractors. Messrs. Harrisons and Crosfield. (Sabah) Ltd.. while in the office extension. one-ton Philco units are fitted in certain rooms.
Main contractors for the construc- tion of the herbarium and the office extension were Messrs. Chen Chan Contractors of Jesselton. with a con- tract price of $141.493 for the herbarium plus M$58.100 for the office extension.
The buildings were handed over to the Sabah Forest Department early in January, and the total cost of the project. including slight alteration to the existing road access, furniture. etc.. was more than M$250.000.
