This cement grille decoration is repeated round the top of the whole block. where again it serves as a safeguard for users of the roof space which is readily accessible from the lift and staircase well.
Total living space on each floor is just under 3000 square feet. split into two flats of unequal sizes. The larger flat, with an area of approxi- mately 1.700 square feet gross has three bedrooms with built-in cup- boards. two bathrooms, living. dining room with study attached from which access is also gained to an inset balcony, kitchen. servant's quarter and a working space. The smaller flat of approximately 1,300 square feet gross has two bedrooms. one full bathroom and one with shower only. living-dining room. kitchen. servant's quarter and working space.
Entrance to the block is set in the angle between the two separate towers into which the plan is basi- cally divided. The doorway itself has a surround of travertine marble. and on either side are flower boxes faced in native granite.
The apartment block is set on the eastern part of this long narrow site at its lowest elevation. To the west the site rises fairly steeply and the access road passes along the front of the block to a car park at the western end.
Cubic cost, including lifts, site formation, interior road and car park. works out at approximately $2.80 per cubic foot.
