the second section of the scheme will be constructed as an extension to the west of, and approximately at right angles to, the first part.
From the plans it will be seen that the building at road level and for two floors above will consist of four classrooms on each floor, making a total of twelve classrooms on the three floors and three more class- rooms on the floor below the road level, plus an arts room. Below this level the contour of the site allows for two additional floors but of more restricted area. Of these two floors, one will have two additional class- rooms and the other, the lower level, will be devoted to a kindergarten which is readily accessible to children and their amahs from the Queen's Road level.
So much for Section One of the scheme. When this part is completed and the existing school pulled down, the second portion of the building will then be erected. In this part, at road level, there will be provided a new science room, with preparation room and store, on the first floor above there will be a dormitory for the Sisters, and on the second floor, a library which will occupy the whole area.
Below the road level, the wing will project approximately northward practically at right angles to the building and immediately below the science room there will be staff rooms which will link with a music room, which can be converted into a stage when necessary. Steps lead down to the covered playground- cum-assembly hall on the lowest level; this will complete what will eventually be the west wing of the main building of the new school. This covered playground will occupy the main part of the area on which the existing building now stands.
As has been mentioned before, the building will be a modern up-to-date one with considerable areas of wall- ing made up of windows which will provide the ample light and air cir- culation to all classrooms which is considered so necessary for the well- being of both pupils and teachers.
All unnecessary ornamentations and embellishments have been dis- pensed with but the modern feeling will be carried out by the emphasis as much as possible placed on the vertical lines, the The of the original landscaping being re- variations in the window placements,
