WALL CHART
Magnetic rod signals in a variety of lengths and colours fit into hori- zontal grooves on lightweight steel panels in the Elite Simplex wall chart. The panels may be framed or un- framed, or modular panels can be combined in series, double-track guide rails being available to provide a sliding double-planning system such as that illustrated.
The standard one-piece framed board measures 720 mm square and

provides 117 slots which can be used horizontally or vertically, while the modular panels contain 120 slots, each 250 mm long. In each case the grooves are marked by dots at every 10 mm along their length.
When a sliding overlapping system is required, top and bottom rails are supplied in 1.2-m lengths, and each panel is fitted with two nylon runners at the base. Eight panels, together with two card holders each taking 104 A6-size cards, can be accom- modated by this method.
Metal magnetic rod signals, 4 mm in diameter by 5, 10, 20 or 30 mm long, are supplied in 10 colours. Alter- natively, eight colours of p.v.c.-covered rod are offered, measuring 3 mm in diameter by 5, 10, 20, 30 or 250 mm in length. Applied directly to the grooves, both types of rod remain firmly in position, but can be moved along the grooves to either side or taken off easily.

Magnetised-rubber title holders, 150 mm long, are made in two widths to fit single and double lines respectively. Corresponding self-adhesive labels in the two widths come in sheet form in six colours, and can be peeled off as required.
The makers, MBC (Office Systems) Ltd., Station Road, Lawford, Manning- tree, Essex, UK, are seeking agents in S.E. Asia.
INCINERATOR
All refuse, including tins, bottles and plastic containers, can be fed into a new automatic gas-fired incinerator manufactured by Dowson & Mason Ltd., Levenshulme, Manchester, UK.
Rubbish is discharged from hoppers located on the different landings of a building directly into a common chute. The chute is fixed vertically from the top of the building to the incinerator in the basement. During incineration, a separate exhaust flue takes the waste gases to the top of the building so that smoke and fumes cannot enter the building itself.
After the refuse has been burnt, the volume of the residue is only 7 to 12 per cent. of the original rubbish. Since the residue is odourless and free from bacteria, it can be used for ground levelling close to houses.
LIGHTING CONTROL
An automatic control for street lamps, the Lumistor, employs solid- state circuitry as standard but is also available with a micro-switch relay.
Lumistor control
Resistant to humidity and vibration, it switches on and off at light levels that can be set on site.
The control comprises an anodised- aluminium dome with a transparent plastic cap protecting the photo-electric cell. Measuring 4 in. (101 mm) in diameter by 5 in. (127 mm) high, it embodies a bracket at the side to per- mit easy fixing to a lamp standard.
The Lumistor is calibrated to switch on at a light level of 50 lux and switch off at 100 lux. If different levels are required, two lightly sealed potentio- meters in the base can be adjusted on site by a rotating action. A neon light in the base indicates when the unit is switched on, enabling an observer at street level to identify faulty lamps.
The makers are Findlay, Irvine Ltd., Bog Road, Penicuik, Scotland.
DRILL
Though petrol-engine operated, the Drillgine 1 h.p. drill by the Power Tool Division of Precision Multiple Controls Inc., Ridgewood, N.J., USA, is said

to have only half the weight of an equivalent capacity electric drill.
The drill has a in. chuck capacity and is supplied in four different spindle speeds ranging from 300 r.p.m. to 1,300 r.p.m. to meet a variety of uses.
A right-angle attachment permits easy access to difficult locations and the drive can be set in any position perpendicular to the normal straight drilling position. A 2-to-1 gear ratio increases spindle speeds for drilling small holes or can decrease the drill speed for heavy-duty drilling requiring increased torque.
The Drillgine is exported by E.D. Allmendinger Inc., 74 Trinity Place, New York. Agents are United Machin- ery Co. Ltd., Bangkok, and Western Machinery Co., Manila.
DOOR FURNITURE
A plastic non-panic bolt is being marketed by J. Manger and Son Ltd., Crown Street, Brentwood, Essex, UK, for use in lavatories where young chil- dren might become locked in. The bolt will yield to a hard, sharp push on the outside of the door without any damage to the woodwork.
