COLOUR IN STEEL BUILDINGS
A significant step in the expanding versatility of steel construction has been revealed by Stran-Steel Corporation with the development of a durable, low-cost factory-applied color coating for its pre- engineered steel buildings. Buildings will now be offered in a choice of blue, green, bronze, rose, gray and white, as well as the standard metal finish.
The new color coatings, called Stran- Satin Color, greatly enlarge design op- portunities by combining the ruggedness of steel construction with the beauty of attractive colors. In conjunction with such collateral materials as brick, wood, stone and glass, the new colored steel panels make possible many unusual styling effects. One or several shades can be used in combination or for special color em- phasis.

Stran-Satin Color is not a paint, but a two-layer protective coating of vinyl- aluminum that is said to be more durable and lower in cost than paint. It is ap- plied to the galvanized steel panels at the factory, which are then shipped to the construction site for quick erection.

Also, it is said that the new color coating will not blis- ter, peel, or crack. Weatherometer tests equal to seven years of sunlight showed ΠΟ color fading. in fact, a slight intensification of color is apparent with ageing.
