The chief feature of the main block is the R.C. roof shelter with its con- certina roof. The colouring of this structure presents a most striking ef- fect as, with the dark soffit and pil- lars, the folding white line of the roof edge is set in prominence.
The north wing, mainly consisting of classrooms, is connected with the main block by a stair hall tower which has а glazed front facing Nathan Road
Road flanked by two tiled panels. When descending the stairs, a striking bird's-eye view is obtained of the junction of Nathan Road and Gascoigne Road with the busy traffic and patches of greenery.
The structure is built on a very irregular and hilly site. Formation work was further complicated by the presence of an old air-raid tunnel which traverses the site under the north-western corner of the building.
At both the northern and southern ends of the main portion of the new building are low structures of random ashlar pierced by small square win- dows. The main portion of the build- ing has a covered playground level, which is sheltered from the western sun by a wide canopy, and an open playground to the south. Beyond the covered playground is a lawn situated over the rocky western bound- ary overlooking Gascoigne Road and protected by an interesting fence of wire-mesh and perforated concrete panels, the whole painted red, white and black.
The main portion of the building consists of the administrative rooms, science laboratories, library, arts room, practical rooms etc., and has a western exposure. The classrooms are protected from the sun by an access corridor which is provided with deep horizontal and vertical "brise-soleils".
