A new block of luxury apartments was recently completed in the Mid Level area of The Peak. At this altitude, the apart- ments have a fine outlook and are readily accessible to the city. An additional advantage will be the welcome coolness during the hot season, while escaping the fog which so often covers The Peak higher up. Some apartments in Hong Kong are termed "luxury apartments" despite the fact that they do not provide the amenities to merit such a description; the Tregunter Mansions, however, are rious apartments in every sense.

The building is located on the hillside west of May Road, a short distance from its junction with Peak Road. The site was originally occupied by Upper Tregunter Mansions to the south and Friston Cottage to the north.
Work on the former was commenced in 1913 and completed in 1916. In addition to a basement, the building contained six apartments on three floors.
Friston Cottage was built soon after in 1919, and was one of the few buildings
