Adjacent to the stadium, there will be two practice basketball courts, a small children's play ground and ап area for older
children.
To the east of the stadium is a full-size football pitch with stands accommodating 1,300 spectators
along the eastern boundary.
It is interesting to note that the main stadium will embody a method of roof construction which is new to
Hong Kong-"Shell" roofing-a system originated by architects in England, which is likely to be adopted increasingly here. The advantages derived from using this method of construction are twofold, the first one being that it is more economical, and the second, that it eliminates the normal beams and pillars and results in a clean unobstructed area ideal for any kind
of game. The roof is formed of 4′′ reinforced concrete slabs laid over four bays each measuring 120 ft. by 30 ft.; these slabs are supported by rigid rigid frames which appear as distinctive features on the exterior of the building.
The architect is Mr. G.D. Su, A.A., and the contractors are the Yundar Construction Company of 3 Queen's Road, East.
